Candle Safety Guidelines

Ensuring the safety of our customers is our top priority. Please follow these guidelines to enjoy your candles safely:

General Safety Tips

1.  Always keep a burning candle within sight.  Never leave a candle unattended.

2. Keep candles away from flammable objects. Ensure candles are at least 12 inches away from anything that can catch fire.

3. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets. Candles should be placed in areas where they cannot be knocked over.

Burning Instructions

1. Trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting. A long wick can cause uneven burning and dripping.

2. Use a candle holder. Ensure it is heat-resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.

3. Burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Avoid drafts, vents, or air currents to prevent rapid, uneven burning.

4. Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.  Allow the candle to cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.

5. Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains. This prevents heat damage to surfaces and the risk of the container cracking.

 Extinguishing Candles

1. Use a snuffer to extinguish candles. Blowing them out can cause hot wax to splatter.

2. Ensure the wick ember is no longer glowing. This prevents the candle from relighting on its own.

Storage and Maintenance

1. Store candles in a cool, dark, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, which can fade the color and scent.

2. Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, and debris. This ensures an even burn and prevents flare-ups.

Emergency Procedures

1. If a candle is accidentally knocked over, use a fire extinguisher.  Do not use water, as it can cause the wax to splatter and the glass to break.

2. Have a plan. Ensure everyone in the home knows the location of fire extinguishers and understands basic fire safety procedures.
